Old Yeller - Al Gore

Leno: I saw Old Yeller on TV yesterday – Al Gore.

(Videotape, May 26, 2004),
(In His shrill put on Southern tone )
Al GORE:

(Loud) We simply cannot afford to further increase the risk to our country with more blunders by this team.

(louder) Donald Rumsfeld ought to resign immediately as the chief architect of this plan.

(Loudest) Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith, the intelligence chief Stephen Cambone all ought to resign immediately. Our nation is at risk every single day Rumsfeld remains as secretary of defense.

(Scream) Condoleezza Rice ought to resign immediately. She has badly mishandled the coordination of national security policy.

(Dean Scream) This is a disaster for our country, and they are responsible along with the president and vice president.

(Weird Gore Scream) President Bush's utter incompetence has made the world a far more dangerous place.

Joseph Farah: Wow! Thank God for the electoral college. Had the Constitution called for direct election of the president of the United States, a clearly mentally unstable man would be sitting in the Oval Office right now.

MR. RUSSERT: What did you think of Al Gore's tone?

REP. PELOSI: We all have our own style in all of these things, and I think that he has reached the level that many of us have... and there has to be a change.

So I share the frustration that he has. But I would say once you're calling for the resignation of all those people, it's about the president of the United States.

And I want to say one thing about the president, which also provoked me to say what I said. (Bush held her down and forced her to say these Things-)

Pelosi on May 20: "Bush is an incompetent leader. In fact, he's not a leader. ...He's a person who has no judgment, no experience and no knowledge of the subjects that he has to decide upon. ...He has on his shoulders the deaths of many more troops..."

Anger Is The Only Thing Democrats Have Been Offering

For Democrats, it's good vs. evil

Jennifer Harper (WT): The Democrats are talking trash these days, lobbing the left wing's frantic and often melodramatic insults at the Bush administration.

Christine Iverson (RNC): There is no longer a distinction between the rhetoric used by people on the left fringe of the Democratic Party and the rhetoric used by the leaders of the Democratic Party.

"This is the same vitriolic stream of political hate speech we've seen since the Democrat primary began. Anger is not an agenda, but anger is the only thing Democrats have been offering the American people. And it's going to backfire."

But the Democrats are forging ahead.

Sen. Tim Johnson: How sweet it's going to be on June 2 when the Taliban wing of the Republican Party finds out what's happening in South Dakota.

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy: Shamefully, we now learn that Saddam's torture chambers reopened under new management — U.S. management.

Such talk is "anti-American slander," according to Boston Globe columnist Jeff Jacoby yesterday..."ignored by the mainstream press and Democratic establishment."

Ralph Nader also got in on the act, calling President Bush a "messianic militarist" and "an out-of-control West Texas sheriff." Mr. Nader also suggested the president be impeached for purportedly lying about the Iraq war.

There could be a price for all this rudeness.

"Voters know the Democrats are angry," said the RNC's Miss Iverson. "But they don't know what they're for — and that's going to turn off moderate and undecided voters in a general election."

Meanwhile, sundry journalists trotted out Nazi themes and overblown comparisons.

ESPN, Hunter S. Thompson wrote that the prisoner-abuse images were worse than "the foulest atrocities of Adolf Hitler."

The public, indeed, has its limits.

When novelist E.L. Doctorow criticized Mr. Bush in the name of "responsible citizenship" during a college commencement address Sunday, he was booed by the audience.

Still, trash talk flourishes.

Congressman Mac Collins Cherishes Last Look

Mac Collins: On Wednesday evening, I attended the Lying in State Ceremony for President Reagan in the Rotunda of the United States Capitol. Congress reserves this special honor for only a select few...It was a fitting tribute to our President and his family.

On Friday, my wife Julie and I attended the memorial service for President Reagan at the National Cathedral. We were honored to attend this service and give our respects to Mrs. Reagan and the other members of the Reagan family.

President Reagan embodied some of America's greatest qualities: integrity, civility and hope. His leadership paved the way for a better America and a safer world.

President Reagan believed in less government, lower taxes and a strong defense. For those who thought the government was the solution for America's problems, his reply was, "government is not the solution. Government is the problem."

Ronald Reagan was a president who, in a time of politicians, proved himself a statesman. He was a leader who, when others demanded compromise, preached conviction; a gentleman who, in time of average men, stood taller than anyone else.

He ranks as one of the finest men ever to hold the office. He was successful as a broadcaster, actor, union leader, Governor and President. But, above all else, he was a successful American whose legacy lives on across this land. May God bless this great man, his family and this land that he so dearly loved.

RONALD REAGAN: 1911-2004: SOUND BITES BACK HOME

Congressman cherishes last look

When U.S. Rep. Mac Collins received one of just 2,100 invitations to the most exclusive event of the commemorative week, he had a question: Could his wife, Julie, accompany him to Ronald Reagan's funeral Friday at the National Cathedral?

Word came that spouses were welcome, and she flew up Thursday to join him.

In a ceremony whose every detail was dictated by Reagan and his family, from the speakers to the songs, Collins said he'll most remember the moment the casket was rolled down the cathedral aisle one last time.

"That would be the last time you would view him," he said. "That was the most passionate time of the service."

U.S. Senator Zell Miller, D-GA
Floor Statement on the Situation at Abu Ghraib prison
Remarks as Delivered on the Senate Floor

Mr. President, here we go again, here we go again.

Rushing to give aid and comfort to the enemy.

Pushing and pulling and shoving and leaping over one another to assign blame and point the finger at America the Terrible.

Lining up in long lines at the microphones to offer apologies to those poor, pitiful Iraqi prisoners.

Of course, I do not condone all the things that went on in that prison, but I for one, Mr. President, refuse to join in this national Act of Contrition over it.

Those who are wringing their hands and shouting so loudly for “heads to roll” over this seem to have conveniently overlooked the fact that someone’s head HAS rolled - that of another innocent American brutally murdered by terrorists.

Why is it? Why is it that there’s more indignation over a photo of a prisoner with underwear on his head than over the video of a young American with no head at all?

Why is it that some in this country still don’t get that we are at war? A war against terrorists who are plotting to kill us every day. Terrorists who will murder Americans at any time any place any chance they get.

And yet here we are, America on its knees, in front of our enemy, begging for their forgiveness over the mistreatment of prisoners.

Showing the enemy and the world once again how easily America can get sidetracked and how easily America can turn against it self.

Yes, some of our soldiers went too far with their interrogation tactics and clearly were not properly trained to handle such duty.

But the way to deal with this is with swift and sure punishment, and immediate and better training.

There also needs to be more careful screening of who it is we put in these kinds of sensitive situations.

And no one wants to hear this, Mr. President and I’m reluctant to say it. But there should also be some serious questioning of having male and female soldiers serving side by side in these kinds of military missions.

But instead, I worry that the HWA - the Hand-Wringers of America - will add to their membership and continue to bash our country ad nauseam. And in doing so, hand over more innocent Americans to the enemy on a silver platter.

So I stand with Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma, who stated that he’s “more outraged by the outrage” than by the treatment of those prisoners.

More outraged by the outrage. It’s a good way of putting it. That’s exactly how this Senator from Georgia feels.

Thank you Mr. President. I yield the floor.

Leno

How many have see that "Harry Potter" movie? It made $93 million over the weekend. The last time a magical young man made that kind of money, he married Teresa Heinz!

Speaking of that, in order to honor former President Ronald Reagan, Senator John Kerry has suspended his presidential campaign for five days. Ralph Nader also announced that he’s suspending his campaign ... not because of Reagan, he just doesn’t have any supporters.

President Bush is back after remembering D-Day. Or, as known in his house, report card day.

Saturday is the senior President Bush’s 80th birthday and he’s going ahead with plans to skydive into [the grounds of] his Texas presidential library. George W. Bush may attend, and of course he’s nervous. As he always is when he goes near a library.

Today the Washington Post revealed that in 2002, the Justice Department sent a memo to the White House justifying the use of torture. Torture - that's our Department of "Justice" - they say "it's OK to torture people." What's the Department of Education doing, burning books?

As I’m sure you know, Jennifer Lopez tied the knot again over the weekend. You know something, I don’t think she’s tying these knots right, they don’t seem to be holding. Maybe if she’d marry a Boy Scout or sailor, somebody who knows how to make a knot ... These knots don’t seem to be taking.

This was bound to happen. Now gay people are complaining that Jennifer Lopez is ruining the institution of marriage.

Of course Marc Anthony, he was in a state of shock. He didn’t know it was his turn.

I realize I sound a little catty. I was a hurt that I didn’t get invited. I felt kind of hurt. Then this morning I go to my mailbox and there’s my invitation. Then I looked a little closer and realized it was for the next wedding on October 8.

The Scott Peterson murder trial has gotten under way and did you see Mark Geragos’ opening statements? You know, he was so convincing, Scott Peterson almost believes he didn’t do it now.

O.J. Simpson is doing a lot of TV interviews this week to mark the 10th anniversary of murdering his wife, Nicole. Say what you want about O.J., he’s a husband who remembers anniversaries. Most guys never remember that stuff.

British soccer star David Beckham has just signed a $10 million deal to endorse Gillette’s new battery-powered razor that has a vibrator inside. In fact that’s what his wife uses when he’s out cheating on her.

Letterman

It’s hot here in New York City. To give you an idea of how hot it is here, I gave Oprah a call just to get the cold shoulder.

It’s so hot that Jennifer Lopez married an air conditioner salesman.

It’s day three of the Jennifer Lopez wedding. She married Marc Anthony. J.Lo says that he is the man she wants to spend the rest of the honeymoon with.

It’s day three – so the marriage is at the halfway point.

Did you watch the Stanley Cup? The Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Calgary Flames. I think I can speak for all hockey fans when I say thank goodness the cup is back in Florida.

Conan

Over the weekend Jennifer Lopez got married again. So, for those of you at home – this is not a rerun.

Elite Journalistic Media, They're Going To Blow

Peggy Noonan: Reporters who regularly slammed Ronald Reagan while he was president are quietly seething now...Liberal reporters will barely be able to contain themselves.

There's going to be an explosion next weekend... the elite journalistic media will have gone.. seven days of talking kindly about Reagan...they're going to blow.

Rather, Brokaw, Journos Preparing to Hit Reagan Warts

NewsMax: Journalists who bashed and trashed Ronald Reagan during the 1980s are biting their tongues.

But the cease-fire won't last long, judging by the comments of major network new anchors Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw and Peter Jennings yesterday.

Rather told the Philadelphia Inquirer the weeklong commemoration of Reagan's life was journalistic overkill.

NBC's Tom Brokaw suggested that the media's current presentation of the Reagan legacy was far too positive...that a single day's worth of tribute to Reagan would have been enough.

ABC's Peter Jennings concurred, "If we waited for the president to be buried before doing a critical analysis, the world would move on quite a bit."

There They Go Again

RUSH: Peggy Noonan, suggested...that it would be Friday after the funeral that the left in this country would not be able to contain themselves.

Nobody is talking about these wackos on the web, we're talking about mainstream journalists leftists...they can't hold back.

It's only Wednesday, and it started crashing down yesterday and last night, and has reached a fever pitch and crescendo today and is only going to continue.

Oop's, too late for this article, we just heard the explosion!

Isakson as "a threat to the unborn"

Abortion foes target Isakson

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - Jim Tharpe:

An anti-abortion group that wields clout with the Republican Party's most conservative wing took a shot at Republican U.S. Senate candidate Johnny Isakson on Monday.

The political arm of Georgia Right to Life endorsed both U.S. Rep. Mac Collins and ...Herman Cain in the race for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate.

The endorsements are a slap at Isakson.

"It's very clear we are promoting these two candidates in order to eliminate pro-abortion Johnny Isakson," said Dan Becker, director of Georgia Right to Life's political action committee.

The anti-abortion group will send its endorsements to 50,000 Georgians in a newsletter.

Becker said his organization, which he said has identified 225,000 anti-abortion households in Georgia, was displeased with Isakson's recent vote to permit self-funded abortions on overseas military bases.

He said Isakson cast that vote while emphasizing his anti-abortion votes in campaign appearances.

"We are very definitely going after Johnny Isakson for the duplicity of these statements," Becker declared. "We find a large inconsistency between what he is saying to our constituency and our donors and what he is doing."

Campaign manager Chris Carr said Isakson's position on abortion is in accord with National Right to Life on 23 of 24 critical issues and that Isakson has a 92 percent rating with the Christian Coalition.

Collins, in accepting the endorsement, pledged to "continue my 100 percent pro-life record" if he is elected to the Senate, while Cain characterized Isakson as "a threat to the unborn."

Becker said exit polls show that about 6 percent of Georgians cast ballots based solely on a candidate's stand on abortion.

"They're single-issue voters, and this is a significant number," Becker said. "It's more than the margin of victory in most elections."

Arab Outrage? (Sent to us by Harold and Alice Wood)

I will be the first to admit, what the MP's in the prison did is not in accordance with the Geneva Convention. However, when was the last time that we fought a war with an enemy that did observe the rules of war.

Remember the Baatan Death March, remember the ovens in Poland, Austria and Hungry? Remember the beating our prisoners endured at the hands of the Viet Cong?

To h*ll with Arab outrage!

Arabs are "outraged" over the humiliation of Iraqi prisoners at the hands of a few American servicemen.

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when necrophiliacs in Fallujah mutilated four American soldiers by stepping on their burnt skulls and hung their burnt bodies from a bridge?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when "Palestinians" mutilated and dragged the bodies of two IDF soldiers in Ramallah?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when 19 Muslims blew up the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on 9/11/01?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when Muslims continue to slaughter Sudanese Christians?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when Muslims blew up Pan Am Flight 103?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when Muslims bombed the marine barracks in Lebanon killing 241 Americans in 1983?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when Muslims bombed the USS COLE?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when Muslims bombed the American embassies in Africa killing 231 people?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when Abu Mazen engineered the "Black September" Terror Attack during the Munich Olympics, which killed 11 Israeli athletes and a U.S. citizen?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when ABu Abbas threw the wheel-chair bound Leon Klinghoffer overboard on the Achille Lauro?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when "Palestinian" rioters torched the Jewish-only Joseph's Tomb ?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when the Taliban blew up the Buddhist statues in Afghanistan?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when simultaneous blasts rocked two of downtown Istanbul's synagogues killing at least 15 people and wounding at least 140?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when "Palestinians" handed out candies celebrating the deaths of 3000 Americans on 9-11-01?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when Jemaah Islamiyah suicide bombers killed 12 people and injured 150 at the J.W. Marriott in Jakarta, Indonesia?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when bomb attacks in Morocco killed at least 28 people and injure more than 100?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when suicide bombers killed 12 people at an Israeli-owned beach hotel in Kenya and two missiles narrowly miss an airliner carrying Israelis?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when nearly 200 people, including seven Americans, were killed in bombings in a nightclub district of the Indonesian island of Bali?

Where were these "outraged" Arabs when 300,000 Iraqi's bodies were found in mass graves?

Where was their indignation, folks? You know where? NOWHERE.

It was nowhere because Arab outrage when someone non-Arab is a victim, does not exist, it does not rate.

Why? Because the Arab culture knows nothing but how to be proud and arrogant. The culture is a cohesive political glob of people united simply by political identity and not at all by morality.

It's time for the rest of us, who do know the difference between right and wrong, to tell the world that these "outraged" idiots are too pathetic to warrant any sympathy from the rest of us.

We're waiting for these "outraged" Arabs to get up the manhood to be disgusted By Their Own people for the disgusting crimes they have committed against others.

Then we'll shed a tear!

Please forward this so we may have as many "Outraged Americans" as possible!

Where Have The "Outraged Democrats" been with all of the Above going on, that are now outraged with our military and wanting their heads?

Thanks to Harold and Alice Wood Of Powder Springs, Ga.

Mac Collins Fighting for Ban on Partial-Birth Abortion, Where's Johnny?

Mac Collins Calls Judges Ruling on Abortion "Barbaric"

Congressman Mac Collins: A San Francisco judges' ruling that the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act is unconstitutional is yet another example of how liberals and moderates are assaulting our moral values.

The procedure of partial-birth abortion is barbaric and so is this ruling. It is wrong to perform this procedure. It is wrong to deny life to an innocent baby and cause it pain.

Today's ruling is another example of how activist judges are taking the law into their own hands."

Keeping with his consistent 100% pro-life record, Mac Collins is an original co-sponsor of the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act.

IBackMac: Isakson voted 14 times in favor of pro-abortion legislation (Click Here)

The ACLJ (American Center for Law and Justice) filed an amicus brief with the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of New York representing 25 members of Congress who co-sponsored the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act.

The ACLJ represents itself and 25 members of Congress. They include: Robert B. Aderholt (R-AL), Todd Akin (R-MO), Bob Beauprez (R-CO), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Roy Blunt (R-MO), Michael C. Burgess (R-TX), Michael "Mac" Collins (R-GA), Jo Ann S. Davis (R-VA), Jim DeMint (R-SC), Jo Ann H. Emerson (R-MO), Tom Feeney (R-FL), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Trent Franks (R-AZ), Scott Garrett (R-NJ), Phil Gingrey (R-GA), Melissa A. Hart (R-PA), Ernest J. Istook, Jr. (R-OK), Walter Jones, Jr. (R-NC), Ric Keller (R-FL), Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO), Charles "Chip" Pickering, Jr. (R-MS), Joseph R. Pitts (R-PA), Jim R. Ryun (R-KS), Rep. Mark Souder (R-IN), John Sullivan (R-OK).

Now here’s the question of the day!

WHERE'S JOHNNY?

Georgia Democrats have Johnny Isakson

Isakson is not a "moderate." He voted on opposite sides of most issues from Mac Collins and Saxby Chambliss.

Johnny Isakson voted on the same sides as Nancy Polosi and Dick Gephardt.

Johnny can’t erase his record on abortion. Isakson ran for governor in 1990 on a pro-choice platform, stating his support for legalized abortion. He first ran for Senate earlier as a pro-choice candidate, and in this race has been endorsed by the pro-choice Republican Main Street Partnership.

Indian aims to be world's worst politician

An Indian man is standing in the country's national elections for the eighth time so that he can get in the record books for losing the most number of times.

The employee of a jewellery factory at Dhar in Madhya Pradesh is a veteran of seven national, nine state and seven civic elections.

Ajit Kumar Jain wants to earn a place for himself in the Limca Book of Records or Guinness Book of Records "under the category of maximum defeats by an individual in elections."

He's currently contesting the country's parliamentary elections as an independent candidate, reports Press Trust of India.

Mr Jain, who claims to have spent only £3.84 on election expenses is using a chariot mounted on a handcart, bearing the slogan: 'Ensure my defeat with the maximum number of votes', as his campaign vehicle.

Republicans vs Democrats (Sent to Us By Eric and Charis Barker)

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below.

She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude."

She rolled her eyes and said, ""You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me sounds technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat."

"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You have risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air.

You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. Now, you're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, it's now my fault.".

Kerry honored at communist museum

Photograph hangs in section devoted to war protesters.

WND: A Ho Chi Minh City museum that honors Vietnam war protesters features a photograph of Sen. John Kerry being greeted by the general secretary of the Communist Party, Comrade Do Muoi.

A snapshot of the display in the Vietnamese Communist War Remnants Museum – formerly known as the "War Crimes Museum" – was acquired over the weekend by Jeffrey M. Epstein of Vietnam Vets for the Truth, a group opposing Kerry's campaign for the presidency.

"The Vietnamese communists clearly recognize John Kerry's contributions to their victory," he said. "This find can be compared to the discovery of a painting of Neville Chamberlain hanging in a place of honor in Hitler's Eagle's Nest in 1945."

Below the display photograph are explanatory placards in English, French, Vietnamese and Chinese.

The English placard reads: "Mr. Do Muoi, Secretary General of the Vietnamese Communist Party met with Congressman and Veterans Delegation in Vietnam (July 15-18, 1993)."

Epstein's group says the exhibit refutes Kerry's insistence his anti-war protests did not render support to the enemy in time of war.

"The Vietnamese communists clearly feel that the American anti-war protesters were a very important force in undermining support in the United States for American war efforts, a force that contributed materially to ultimate communist victory in 1975," the group said in a statement.

The Swift Boat Veterans also have called on Kerry to stop unauthorized use of their images in national campaign advertising. The group says only two of the 20 officers in one photo support him and 11 have signed the letter condemning the candidate.

One veteran in the photo, William Shumadine, said Kerry's use of the photo "is a complete misrepresentation to the public and a total fraud."

Suppose your doctor misdiagnoses your condition – he tells you that six months hence you'll be stone-cold dead, pushing up the daisies.

As it turns out, however, you did not have leukemia after all, but were only suffering from Lyme disease. Would you not consider switching practitioners?

Say your stockbroker's picks leave you with a portfolio more volatile than Vesuvius and an eviscerated bank account. Short of buying shares in a Baghdad bed and breakfast, he did everything wrong. Would you still entrust him with your money?

Imagine you're a fisherman. Your local weatherman predicts calm, but you lose your boat in treacherous seas. (Thankfully your life is spared.) Then he forecasts a storm, but the sea is as calm as glass, and you miss out on the biggest catch ever. How long before you stop trusting his "expertise"?

These analogies came to mind as I listened to a different sort of failed "expert," for whom public goodwill runs eternal.
I'll be damned, but if this unwily fox's predictive powers are so poor, why was he back on the box to bloviate about his blunders? It's not as if there weren't alternatives. T.

So why are insightful commentators whose observations have predictive power generally barred from the national discourse, while false neoconservative prophets are called back for encores?

Today's news is not what it used to be because a dumbed-down population, well represented in newsrooms, cannot distinguish evidence from assertion and fact from feel-good fiction. News is now nothing but a slick, demand-driven product designed to please – not inform – the populace.

Replacing incompetent stockbrokers and doctors is essential if serious financial losses or even death are to be avoided. On the other hand, the opportunity costs associated with consumption of toxic punditry are low or non-existent. Having their worldview affirmed – even affirmed in a parallel universe – is worth a lot to news consumers, who are keener to avoid the pains of cognitive dissonance than to get the real deal.
